Is my passport considered damaged?

On the top corner of my passport my dog took a little bit. Not a lot, just a tiny. It looks almost like a rip..all pieces still there. I traveling on a cruise to the Western Carribean in December and wanted to see if there was anyone whose an expert in this type of thing and if they know if I should get it replaced or not?

I put a passport wallet cover/book over it and everything seems fine..but I don't know if they'll make me take that off? The last couple pages as well as the back plastic have the tear.

**PLEASE HELP! If you know a lot about this, please can I send you pictures to tell??

A damaged U.S. passport is no longer valid for travel. There may be some leeway for minor damage (it's hard to tell how bad it is from your description).
